Yesterday, Officer Schroeder was recognized for his outstanding efforts in bringing a criminal to justice. On October 17, 2022, he responded to a report involving an elderly man who had fallen victim to the 'grandparent scam.' Through his initiative, meticulous investigation, and unwavering determination, Officer Schroeder uncovered critical evidence that ultimately led to the federal prosecution of Matthew Ramos-Soto.

Officer Schroeder s thorough approach-including gathering statements from the victim and witnesses, and securing valuable surveillance footage-was instrumental in identifying key details that led to Ramos-Soto's capture and conviction. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meredith Duchemin commended Officer Schroeder's vital role, saying, "Truly, without you, this case would not have happened."

Chief Renkas also expressed deep pride in Officer Schroeder's work, emphasizing, "Officer Schroeder's initiative, determination, and drive are exceptional qualities. While they may seem simple on the surface, it is this consistent commitment to our communities by officers like him that makes me proud of the work we do every day. The impact Officer Schroeder made in this case is a perfect example of that dedication."

Please join us in congratulating Officer Schroeder for his dedication, tenacity, and commitment to protecting our community!
