Are You Planning Home Improvement Projects?
Building permits are required for most projects except for purely cosmetic projects such as painting or flooring.
Here are some helpful tips regarding building permits:
1. It is always a good idea to check if a permit is required for your project PRIOR to starting.
2. Most permit applications require a site plan. A site plan is a bird's eye view of your property drawn to scale showing property lines, buildings, utilities, easements, and driveways. Include as many measurements as possible, especially distances from buildings to property lines.
3. Plan ahead! Permit application process can take up to 10 days. Please make sure all the required information is submitted with your permit application.
4. Starting your project PRIOR to a permit being issued will result in permit fees being doubled.
5. Permit applications can be obtained on our website (www.lawrencewi.gov) or at the Town Hall (2400 Shady Court, De Pere, WI 54115)
6. If you have a project that requires digging, call Diggers Hotline PRIOR to digging at 811 or 800-242-8511
